En algunos extos y sitios de internet, se habla de este navio, excelente dondelos haya, y se cita a un ingles, un tal Finchan, John Finchan, que tiene palabras de elogio hacia los cosntructores españoles.
A ver, he buscado a John y no he hallado nada de el.
Quien es, que hizo, que escribio?

Blyth quotes his obituary in The Times.
The death of this gentleman took place at his residence at Highland Lodge, near Portsmouth, yesterday morning, in his 75th year. The deceased gentleman will be best remembered by the general public as for many years master shipwright of Portsmouth Dockyard, and more especially as the builder of the celebrated Arrogant, the first screw frigate possessed by this country, and still looked on as one of the finest of her class. Much of his time and study was devoted to the introduction of the screw propeller into the British navy. For a long period he was superintendent of the School of Naval Architecture at Portsmouth. His History of Naval Architecture, Outlines of Shipbuilding, a Treatise on Laying-off Ships, and on Masting Ships, are unequalled in the English language for the amount of research and professional knowledge they contain. As an acknowledgement of their merits the Emperor Nicholas of Russia presented Mr. Fincham with a snuff-box set with diamonds, and Mehemet Ali presented him with the order of the "Bey".

Algunos datos sobre su actividad:
10 October 1845
The "Dauntless", a steam-frigate of 36 guns, on the design of Mr Fincham [John Fincham, Master Shipwright at Portsmouth], is laid down on one of the new building slips at Portsmouth. The keel and floor timbers are laid.
(In 1847 the frigate 'Dauntless' was launched at Portsmouth. She saw action during the Crimean War and won battle honours in the Black Sea. The frigate was sold for breaking in 1885.)

The "Ajax", 72, will be towed down to Cowes to-morrow from Portsmouth, by the Driver steam-sloop, Master Commander Driver, to be converted by Mr. White into a steam guard-ship for that port. Mr. John Fincham, foreman of shipwrights at Devonport Dockyard, has been ordered to Cowes to superintend her conversion, and Mr. May, inspector of shipwrights, who superintended the fitting of the Avenger steam-frigate in the river, is appointed acting-forman of Devonport Yard during Mr. Fincham's absence.

Una cita suya (que yo tenía archivada), de las varias elogiosas (e imparciales) sobre la Marina española:
“…debido a que la ciencia de la arquitectura naval recibió mayor estímulo en España que en cualquier otro lugar, los buques de este país estaban adelantados con respecto a los de Europa septentrional en lo que se refiere a su excelente trazado, cuya consecuencia era su mayor andar y otras buenas cualidades. Esta superioridad se demostró en algunos de los navíos españoles capturados en la batalla de Trafalgar”.
(no recuerdo dónde la conseguí, pero seguro que fue unido a algún artículo o libro sobre Trafalgar)

Esta ultima es la que me llamo la atencion, pero que citada por varios lugares, no ponian de donde provenia, si el autor, pero no quien era ni donde lo escribio.
